Mail Coach Contractors

Louise Wilson has spent some years researching the life of George Boulton (Snr and Jnr), coachmasters of the Golden Cross at Charing Cross, and Thomas Willson, innkeeper of the Swan with Two Necks, Lad Lane, City of London. A book is in preparation. It contains new and original research into the role played by the two George Boultons and Thomas Willson as major Royal Mail coach contractors to the British Post Office in the 1780s and 1790s and into the early 1800s.

George Boulton's descendants to the beginning of the twentieth century have also been traced, for separate stories. Get in touch via my website for more details.
